It’s Blues v Blues on a vital North Tuesday
Ipswich Wanderers welcome Brentwood Town in a match which is important at both ends of the table
Our one Pitching In Isthmian North match this evening comes from Suffolk, as Ipswich Wanderers welcome Brentwood Town. Wanderers find themselves bottom of the table and eight points from safety despite some improved performances, but improved performances don’t get you very far if they don’t come with points, and fourteen league matches without a win mean they haven’t picked up very many of those. A draw with Gorleston in their last home match showed promise, and they were perhaps unlucky to lose against Maldon and Tiptree on Saturday- but they face a Brentwood side who defeated them eight-nil last month and are in fine form.
The travelling Blues- who we suspect will actually be in orange- are looking for a fifth consecutive victory, and indeed have five wins from six. They are prone to the occasional aberration, however, as the odd game out amongst that six- a five-one defeat against Grays Athletic- proved, so that will perhaps give Wanderers some hope that their visitors are not invincible.
A Wanderers win would take them level on points with twenty first place Newmarket Town, whilst a Brentwood win would still see them remain fourth, but would see them close to within three points of third place Witham Town with a game in hand.
Brentwood took six points from Wanderers last season, and came from behind to win six-one at the GBS Stadium.
