Kedwell steps out...co-owner Hume steps in
Danny Kedwell departs Ashford United, and co-owner Lloyd Hume takes the top job
Ashford United have announced the departure of manager Danny Kedwell- and shared that one of their co-owners, Lloyd Hume, will manage the side until the end of the season.
Kedwell's departure came yesterday, with this statement:
'It is with regret that the club announces we have mutually agreed to part company with first-team manager Danny Kedwell and assistant manager Dean Beckwith After discussions, both parties agreed that this decision is in the best interests of the club moving forward.
Danny joined the club at the beginning of the season and worked tirelessly to build a team from the ground up. Despite facing numerous challenges, including an unfortunate run of injuries, Danny and Dean have shown unwavering dedication to the club. We would like to place on record our heartfelt thanks to Danny and Dean for their hard work, professionalism, and the positive contributions they made both on and off the pitch. They will be greatly missed by everyone at Ashford United, and we wish them nothing but success in their future endeavors. The club will provide further updates to supporters in due course.'
This morning, via Kent Online, the club advised that Lloyd -who previously managed Maidstone United, Fisher and Rochester United - will take over until at least the end of the season, with Darren Hare as his Assistant.
Danny took over at Homelands in May. Previously, as Assistant Manager and player at Chatham, he helped the club to win the South East title in 22-23 and to the Premier Play Off Final in May. He made sixteen appearances last season, scoring four goals, and eleven as his side earned promotion to the top flight the season before. His previous spell as an Isthmian Manager came at Cray Wanderers during the early months of the 21-22 campaign.
As a player, Danny turned out for the likes of Gillingham and AFC Wimbledon, as well as four successful years at Ebbsfleet United.
He leaves United in tenth place in Pitching In Isthmian South East.
