K’s reduce Farnham’s lead on South Central Wednesday

Kingstonian are four points behind the leaders- with a game in hand- after narrow victory over Moneyfields

Our Wednesday Night football came from South West London, as Pitching In Isthmian South Central promotion chasers Kingstonian welcomed Moneyfields to Raynes Park.

The K’s were looking for a fifth win in a row, and indeed a seventh win from eight, whilst the Moneys had gone six without a win and very much wanted to end that run, particularly as it had taken them into the bottom four. Their hosts had rather different ambitions, as they started the match in second place, and knew that victory would close the gap between themselves and leaders Farnham Town to four points, and still leave them a game in hand. The sides had met as recently as October 15th, a three-one win for Kingstonian- courtesy of an Eddie Simon hat trick.

The first half brought only one goal, and it went to the K’s, Bradley Wilson with his eleventh of the season after a defensive mix up. The start of the second half saw the visitors dominate possession whilst the K’s were determined to hold onto what they had, and that pattern continued  with the Moneys doing most of the pressing without really threatening. That changed right at the end, a shot from distance by substitute George Barker striking the bar and, from the corner that resulted, Tom Cain unluckily finding the post rather than the net- but after six added minutes that was finally that, three home points distributed.
