Niemczycki and Souaré of the Rams
Keeper Damian Niemczycki and defender Pape Souaré are new at AFC Croydon Athletic
AFC Croydon Athletic saw keeper Amadou Tangara suffer injury at Burgess Hill Town on Saturday, and the Rams have moved quickly to bring in a replacement, Damian Niemczycki signing on.
Damian started the 23-24 season at Margate, although he seems not to have made a competitive start. He also spent time with VCD Athletic last season, and was previously with Maidstone United.
He spent part of the 22-23 season on loan at Beckenham Town, making eight appearances on loan from Braintree Town, and he also played seven times for Ashford United during the 21-22 campaign, winning six of them. He also appeared in the Premier Division with Merstham, playing twice, back in the South East for VCD Athletic, playing once- and turned out for Billericay Town, then in National League South. He has also spent time plying his trade in Pitching In Southern Premier, where he played for Hartley Wintney. As a youth he played junior and youth football with Arsenal and Oxford United.
As well as a keeper, the Rams have also announced the arrival of defender Pape Souaré. The full back started his professional career in France with Lille and Reims, before making a big money move to Crystal Palace. He spent four years at Selhurst Park before heading back to France with Troyes, and then returned to England to sign for Charlton Athletic. He moved on to play for Morecambe, and spent some of last season in Scotland with Motherwell.
He is an experienced Senegal international, and also played for his country at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
