North -and Cup- goals galore!

Leaders Hashtag United went into their match with Tilbury with a one hundred percent record- and they were soon well on the way to making it five wins from five as they hosted Takeley. Misha Djemaili put the Tags ahead on twenty three minutes, and they were two up seven minutes later, Sam Park with that one. It was three-nil five minutes before half time, Nathan Wilson adding to the lead, and the contest was as good as over when Bilal Sayoud added a fourth just before the hour. Still they weren’t finished, Matthew Wooldridge adding a fifth seven minutes from time, and they go three points clear at the top. 

Ten matches in League and Cups, and the only side to defeat the Tags have been top flight promotion chasers St Albans City. An almost perfect start, and a perfect League record. 

Felixstowe and Walton United have not had the start to the season that they - or indeed the rest of us- might have expected, but they had a very positive start to their match against Buckhurst Hill, Callum Harrison taking six minutes to fire them ahead from the spot. The visitors didn’t lie down, however, and were soon level, Suley Zudhu taking only eight minutes to equalise, and the same player put the visitors ahead from the spot just before the break. The Seasiders drew level ten minutes after half time, Tom Warren delivering the equaliser, and eight minutes from time they went ahead once more, Josh Mayhew making it three-two- and this time they held on to take three points. 

Sam Bantick scored his fourth League goal of the season when he put his side ahead against Concord Rangers on ten minutes, and five minutes later George Smith added a second- but the Beachboys were quickly back in the match, Demi Elegushi halving the deficit. The visitors were level within three minutes of the second half, Kai Torres delivering the equaliser, and only a minute later Torres struck again to complete the turnaround. A red card for Witham’s Fred King did their chances no favours, and the visitors took advantage, Toheeb Elegushi making it four-two. Rangers are fourth, and remain unbeaten- the only unbeaten side apart from the leaders. 

Cambridge City hosted Tilbury, and the Dockers struck first- but were ahead for almost no time at all and then quickly behind. Soumen Nandi scored for Tilbury midway through the first half, but within four minutes Jayden Randell had City level, and five minutes after that Charlie Royle put the hosts ahead. Eight minutes before half time it was three-one to the hosts, Charlie Norman extending the lead, but the Dockers pulled it back to three-two twelve minutes into the second half, Rasheed Salau giving the travelling fans hope. City soon re-established their two goal advantage, however, Freddie Hockey adding a fourth only two minutes later, and five minutes from time they scored goal number five, Sam Chaney with that one. Still they weren’t finished, Lewis Hayes becoming the EIGHTH different scorer of the evening when making it six-two in added time. City are sixth. 

Canvey Island and Wroxham didn’t manage a goal in the first half, but they quickly had one in the second- and it went to the visitors, Ryan Hawkins delighting the travelling faithful. They were even more delighted at the end- three points and their side up to second. Image courtesy of Wroxham. 

Walthamstow welcomed Gorleston to East London- but the crowd didn’t welcome their first goal until twenty one minutes from time, and when it arrived most of them didn’t welcome it at all, Luke Johnson scoring for the Greens. That was that- Gorleston up to fifth. 

In the Velocity Cup, Newmarket Town travelled to AFC Sudbury- and the Jockeys left after a four-nil victory. Josh Lee hit a hat trick, Lennon King with the other.
