Isthmian Supporters Predictions 24-25: Westfield
Harrison Powell is our guide to the goings on at Woking Park
We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-22 will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.
We Go West(field), life is peaceful there! Harrison gives us the tour.
- Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?
There were a lot of highlights last season as we matched our best-ever finish at this level, but one that stood out amongst the rest was our 2-1 win over Northwood on the penultimate game of the season, securing our spot in the play-offs. It wasn’t the prettiest of games, but the roar from the home crowd when Jordan Alves scored the winner in the 90+4 minute was unreal.
2. And what was the worst moment?
Probably when that third goal went in for Marlow in the play-off semi-final; proper gutting after putting up a resilient performance against a strong side.
3. Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?
There were plenty of names to choose from last season, as I believe everyone had a stellar year. If I had to go with one, it would have to be Manolis Gogonas. His versatility saw him play in every position bar goalkeeper, and he chipped in with some important goals across the season.
4. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 24-25 campaign?
As with most seasons at this level there has been a big overhaul of the squad in pre-season, so there are a lot of new faces to get used to. One player I’ve been impressed with in pre-season is a familiar one in Richard Afrane-Kesey, who has been really lighting things up.
I’m also intrigued by Lucas Sinclair, who was at Northwood last season and looked like a handful there, so I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do in the black and yellow of Westfield.
5. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?
We’ve got a good squad, an excellent management team and our support at each game only seems to be growing. I believe this can easily get us into the top half of the table, and possibly the play-offs, but its going to be a tough and competitive league this year, so a top half finish is something I’d personally be happy with.
6. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?
Leatherhead is always a fixture I look forward to, and it’s no different this year. I’m also looking forward to visiting Farnham and seeing how we get on there, as well as visiting teams like Moneyfields and Horndean, which are new grounds for me.
Undeniably though, it must be Guernsey; had a great time out there last year and hoping for the same again when we visit in March!
7. What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?
It used to be Chertsey Town, but as they play in another league now, I would say it’s maybe Met Police as it’s a nice, big ground with good facilities. Big shoutout to Southall as well, who are very hospitable.
8. If you regularly travelled away, which ground served the best food?
It must be Southall – great pitch side food available, as well as some delicious post-match food!
9. Who do you think will finish in the top five?
Farnham Town, Southall, Kingstonian, Leatherhead, Hayes and Yeading United
