Pitching In Isthmian Supporters Predictions 26-27: Hendon

Felix Houseman is our green guide

We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome.

Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?

I think I speak for all Hendon fans when I say that there were very few highlights of last season. In the league, we were inconsistent at best and we exited the FA Cup as early as we've ever before, so I'd have to say our trophy run and beating Dulwich away.

And what was the worst moment?

Take your pick! Losing 3 times (twice in the league without even scoring a goal, and in the League Cup) to Harrow wasn't ideal. Taking nearly 200 fans on Easter Monday and outnumbering the home support to be trounced 3-0 was particularly bad.

Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?

Josh Strizovic in goal was one of our only consistent performers, a keeper far too good for this level and we're all delighted he's signed on for this campaign too.

Moving on to your current squad - which players do you think will make a big impact during the 26/27 campaign?

With Fish at the helm, there's a real buzz around the club - typified by a very accomplished pre-season, losing only twice and winning several games against fellow step 4 sides. Dion Miftari is certainly one to look out for, as his excellent performance against Soul Tower Hamlets in the FA Cup showed.

Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

There's an air of confidence in the dressing room at the moment, and all the supporters know Fish is the one to take us back to step 3. I think we'll take advantage of the expanded playoff format and sneak into 4th or 5th spot perhaps.

If you could choose a song for your side to run our to, what would it be- and why?

This is a great question and quite a topical one with plenty of supporter discussion about what we should be playing as the lads walk our. The answer comes in two parts.

First of all - we sometimes walk out to London Calling and songs like Right Here Right Now or Ready to Go. Second - we usually sing In Dublin's Fair City/Molly Malone, the best iteration of which occurred when we hosted Harrow shortly after Boxing Day last year with the tifo we'd crowdfunded for.

From all the opposition players you watched last season, which one would you love to see in your side- and why?

Lenny Farhall...

Only joking! Many players impressed me last season but, if I'm honest, we tend not to watch the opposition so closely and instead focus on creating a good atmosphere and sampling the local beers.

What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?

It's between Bognor Regis and Harrow Borough for me. Bognor because it's a great day out and we won there last season. Harrow because it's a really old school ground and we always outnumber the home support.

If you travelled away, which ground served the best food?

I did most away games last year but the best food comes from the kitchen at SJP.

Please predict your top five:

Bognor (C)

AFC Portchester

Winchester City

Hendon

Westfield

Thanks to all supporters who have contributed to this feature- we’ve had a greater response than ever before, and that never fails to be appreciated. Have a magnificent season.
