Carshalton Athletic go -perhaps temporarily- top of the table with victory over Wingate & Finchley

On Saturday Wingate and Finchley were on the right end of a five goal thriller as they defeated Dulwich Hamlet, but last night at Colston Avenue Carshalton Athletic got the better of the blues in a similar way.

Dominic Vote was the architect of the hosts victory, taking his tally for the season to three in two matches. The opener arrived in the twenty sixth minute, and only eight minutes later he scored again, his second a superb half volley to give his side what appeared to be a comfortable lead. They soon found, however, that it wasn’t as comfortable as they thought.

Wingate went two goals up on Saturday only to find themselves pegged back, and last night there was something of a role reversal. First, just before the hour, Luke Deslandes scored a long distance beauty to give his side hope- and within five minutes they were level, Ben Frempah heading home a corner.

Could the Robins respond? They could. Within three minutes they had reestablished a lead, and this time they held it. A free kick from Tom Jackson was touched onto the bar, and Paris Hamilton-Downes was first to react, bundling it home from close range. The Blues pressed once more, but the hosts held out, and the three points remained at home.

The rest of our Premier Division sides are in action tonight.
