Rogers and Walker new at Hastings
Louis Rogers and George Walker strengthen the United defence
Hastings United have brought in goalkeeper Louis Rogers and defender George Walker.
Louis is already something of a Pilot Field legend. He made his Hastings debut at the end of the 2017-18 campaign, became a rather more regular starter the following season, but his breakthrough campaign was the unfinished 19-20 season, when he was outstanding for United in the Pitching In South East Division, making forty one appearances and keeping sixteen clean sheets as his side conceded only twenty one league goals in their entire campaign. Only Maldon & Tiptree, Halesowen Town and Leek Town across the entirety of Step Four had a better defensive record, and it's was a record better than any club in the top three tiers of the Non League game managed- a season which saw him pick up our Golden Gloves Award three times. Forty eight appearances followed as United won the South East title in 21-22, and he was an ever-present during their fine first Premier campaign of 22-23, making fifty one appearances. We were rather surprised when he headed to Lancing last season, and he went on to play thirty three times as the Lancers confounded expectations to narrowly miss out on the Play Offs.
Defender George Walker has been an Under 18 and Under 21 star with Millwall, and fans of the Lions seem rather surprised that he was released in the summer. Their loss is United's gain, and boss Danny Bloor says “he just doesn't stop running, and I know he'll soon become a fans favourite.” We look forward to seeing him in action.
