[b]When was the image taken (match, event, etc)?[/b] This is Derek Asamoah playing for New Salamis away at Redbridge on the 30th of September 2023. [b]Why is it important to you?[/b] Redbridge just seemed to play New Salamis a lot this season and Derek, although not in the first flush of youth, was always a handful. Busy, mobile, alert, quick and difficult to pick up, with movement and touch which demonstrated his class as a footballer. It’s important because it demonstrates the athleticism of a senior player, and what hard work and dedication can achieve in prolonging a career, but more so because although Derek left the club before the end of the season, they recently announced that they would no longer be able to maintain the first team.
