Southend Legends head to Canvey to raise money for Glen

Glen Eckett fundraising match to take place at Canvey on 28th July

A Canvey Island Legends side will take on a similarly legendary Southend United side on July 28th at 2PM, as both sides come together to raise money for Gulls media man Glen Eckett and his family.

Glen, who is one of the best human beings you'll ever meet and brilliant at his job, took ill last year after suffering a severe brain injury. Since then he's been hospitalised and in a state of semi-consciousness, and you can only imagine the trauma that has caused his family. The Gulls- in conjunction with the Shrimpers Supporters Trust-  have organised this match to try and raise funds to help, and they'd very much like you to be there.

You can purchase tickets here- priced at £10.85 for adults and £5.85 for concessions. If you can't attend, but would still like to help, then you can head here and make a direct donation.

Alternatively just turn up on the day and pay on the gate.

Former Canvey and Southend player Steve Tilson will take charge of the Southend United legends side- including the likes of current boss Kevin Maher, former Canvey manager Mark Bentley and 90s fan favourite goalkeeper Simon Royce. Former Canvey Assistant Manager- and Southend United player- Glenn Pennyfather will take charge of the Canvey legends, with the likes of Steve Ward, Jeff Minton and Steve Parmenter among the squad.
