Supporters Predictions 24-25

It’s time, once more, for you to connect with your inner Mystic Meg!

 

 

Every year we ask supporters from our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to review the season just gone and to predict the outcome of the season about to begin- and we’re about to do it again, for the eighth season in a row.

 

We’d be very grateful if you would consider representing your club this season- and if you would like to, then please email Ian at [email protected] and let us have your name and the club you’d like to represent. 

 

Upon receipt of your email, we’ll send you a collection of questions to answer- don’t worry, nothing too taxing- and ask you to predict the outcome of the season for the division which your club is in, ranking the clubs from 1-22. We’ll then publish your answers on the website over the next few weeks, and we’ll also publish your predicted top five- whilst combining your entire prediction with all the others to create a predicted table, which we’ll publish just before the big kick off. 

 

Now, whilst we have your attention, we’ll take a look at your predictions from last season and see how well you did! Here are your predicted tables: 

 

Supporters Predicted Premier Division Table, 23-24

 

1. Hornchurch- you were absolutely right, the Urchins put two Play Off Final defeats behind them to romp to the title

2. Dulwich Hamlet -with a mid table finish Hamlet weren’t as good as you expected. Perhaps this will be their season

3. Billericay Town- You were three places out, but they were an important three places

4. Lewes- The Rooks eventually finished eighth, nine points away from a top five spot

5. Hastings United- eventually finished seventh

6. Canvey Island- The Gulls fabulous 22-23 season lulled you into a false sense of security. Finished fourteenth

7. Enfield Town- third place and promotion!

8. Horsham- finished in fifth and had a magnificent FA Cup run

9. Cheshunt- didn’t adapt as well as you thought to their Premier return, indeed scrapped to survive in eighteenth

10. Cray Wanderers- finished seventeenth, failing to build upon their fine 22-23

11. Hashtag United- an up and down season, but achieved your predicted mid table spot, in thirteenth

12. Bognor Regis Town- you were nearly right, a tenth place finish

13. Folkestone Invicta- a poor season by their standards, finishing sixteenth

14. Concord Rangers- you thought they might struggle a little, but instead they struggled a lot

15. Chatham Town- the Chats caught you out badly, with a second place finish. Where will you put them this time around?

16. Carshalton Athletic - finished twelfth, better than you expected but without pulling up any trees

17. Whitehawk- a solid defence saw the Hawks vastly exceed your expectations- 9th

18. Margate- you were very nearly right, only one place out. Unfortunately that one place saw Gate relegated

19. Potters Bar Town- finished four places better than you expected, and comfortably avoided the drop

20. Haringey Borough- Borough did exactly as you suggested, and unfortunately faced relegation

21. Kingstonian- you thought the K’s would finish second bottom. You were very nearly right! 

22. Wingate & Finchley - The Blues undoubtedly spent the season laughing at this prediction. 4th, and regularly superb

 

 

Supporters Predicted North Division Table, 23-24

 

1. Felixstowe & Walton United- eventually finished third after spending most of the season battling for top spot

2. Heybridge Swifts -with a seventh place finish Swifts weren’t as good as you expected, finishing well behind the top five

3. Lowestoft Town- They had to work hard, but took the title by four points

4. Enfield- It would have been difficult to predict Enfield’s financial woes. Saved only by East Thurrock’s sad demise

5. Brentwood Town- exactly right- lost in the Play Off Final

6. Grays Athletic- Perhaps you missed off a 1! Eventually sixteenth, but off the pitch won perhaps their biggest victory

7. Bowers & Pitsea- did better than you expected and got an immediate Premier return

8. Brightlingsea Regent- finished eighth, as you expected!

9. Bury Town- had a magnificent run and scored for fun, finishing second

10. Stowmarket Town- didn’t manage a win all season, sadly

11. Walthamstow- A fine campaign, finishing in sixth place

12. Maldon & Tiptree- you were nearly right, an eleventh place finish

13. Wroxham- One place out- the Yachtsmen finishing in twelfth

14. New Salamis- finished in fifteenth, and sadly won't be back this season

15. Basildon United- were superb on occasions, often in the top five, eventually ended the season in ninth

16. East Thurrock Utd - sadly folded early on, and greatly missed

17. Redbridge- The Motormen had a fine season, won the Essex Senior Cup, and finished in a comfortable thirteenth

18. Ipswich Wanderers- you were very nearly right, only one place out

19. Gorleston- we suspected that this prediction would be a little inaccurate, and so it proved- tenth

20. Witham Town- No relegation battle this time- fourteenth and some fine football too


 

Supporters Predicted South Central Division Table, 23-24

 

1. Chertsey Town- you were bang on the money!

2. Leatherhead -only one place out, defeated Play Off Finalists

3. Marlow- only one place out, Play Off winners

4. Hanworth Villa- The Villains couldn’t repeat 22-23’s heroics. Seventh. 

5. Ascot United- Vase Winners upon arrival, but could only manage thirteenth

6. Northwood- A fine 22-23 lulled you into a false sense of expectation- fifteenth

7. Southall- a fabulous fourth place 

8. Binfield- eventually delivered perhaps the greatest great escape- but a long way from eighth!

9. Westfield- Were fantastic in finishing fifth

10. South Park Reigate- nearly correct, finished ninth

11. Met Police- Didn’t set the world alight but fought their way to a not particularly comfortable sixteenth

12. Raynes Park Vale- looked play off certainties for much of the season, but just missed out in the closing stages

13. Corinthian-Casuals— unfortunately a second relegation in a row and hopefully only a temporary goodbye

14. Hartley Wintney- tenth place, and a mixed set of performances

15. Chipstead- the Chips were overhauled by Binfield and surprisingly went down, after a dreadful second half of the season

16. Uxbridge- finished twelfth, and will expect better in 24-25

17. Thatcham Town- did far better than you predicted, played some entertaining football, ended the season in eighth

18. Ashford Town- you were very nearly right, only one place out

19. Guernsey- again, you were one place out!

20. Badshot Lea- The Baggies defied your expectations, and then some, finishing eleventh after a waterlogged season

21. Sutton Common Rovers -Rovers did far better than you suggested, finishing in fourteenth


 

Supporters Predicted South East Division Table, 23-24

 

1. Ramsgate- eventually finished second after spending most of the season battling for top spot

2. Ashford United -delivered an underwhelming campaign ending in the bottom half

3. Sheppey United- not as good as you expected, seventh

4. Herne Bay- eighth, and well away from a top five spot

5. Sittingbourne- only two places out, finished third before Play Off Semi-Final defeat

6. Cray Valley PM- given there were thirty one points between champs Cray Valley and sixth place, very wrong indeed!

7. Beckenham Town- relegated and reprieved- you expected 22-23 form and were left disappointed

8. Erith & Belvedere- came up with a flourish, went directly back down again

9. Sevenoaks Town- you were nearly right- tenth

10. Chichester City- with a fifth place finish and a Premier campaign to come, they’re laughing at you!

11. Hythe Town- you were nearly right, an thirteenth place finish

12. Burgess Hill Town- on the nose- the Hillians finishing in twelfth

13. Littlehampton Town- not quite as good as you expected, seventeenth- but will expect a positive 24-25

14. Lancing- a superb season, often in the top five, finished in sixth, surprised us all! 

15. Merstham- finished exactly where you expected

16. Phoenix Sports- another club who met your prediction exactly

17. East Grinstead Town you were very nearly right, only two places out

18. Broadbridge Heath- a fine first Isthmian campaign, never in danger, ninth

19. Horndean- No relegation battle here- fourteenth and some fine football too

20. Three Bridges- what can we say? Goodness, you were very wrong! Fourth, Play Off Finalists
