Supporters Predictions 24-25: Billericay Town

Ben of Billericay predicts a positive campaign for the Blues

We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-22 will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Ben Mapp is our guide to the goings on at New Lodge.

  1. Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?

Enfield Town away was brilliant, coming from behind to win on a cold Tuesday night at a ground we haven’t done well at in recent seasons. Dulwich away was memorable too, scoring twice in the last 5 minutes to turn the game around and win for the first time in 10 games. We also enjoyed thumping wins over Haringey, Cray & Lewes, and brilliant cup performances beating St. Albans City in the FA Cup and eventual National League North winners, Tamworth, in the FA Trophy.

2. And what was the worst moment?

Conceding twice in stoppage time at home to playoff rivals Wingate & Finchley, made even worse as they pipped us to the playoffs by just 3pts. On a bigger scale, the period between January and March winning just 3 in 14 games was not the most enjoyable.

3. Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?

With 26 goals and 20 assists last season, it has to be Bradley Stevenson again, who has deservedly earned a move to Solihull Moors this summer. Honourable mentions go to Alfie Cerulli, Frankie Merrifield and George Wind, who were so consistent across 50+ games.

4. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 24-25 campaign?

Retaining the core of the squad has been important, and I expect players like George Wind, Matt Johnson, Jay Porter, Frankie Merrifield, Richard Asamoah & Mo Emmanuel to build on good seasons last year. Of the new signings, re-signing Jack Paxman is massive, as he adds so much creativity to the side, especially with Brad moving on, and Tyrell Miller-Rodney, Ansu Janneh, Decarrey Sheriff & Ashley Nzala look to be very promising additions.

5. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

After the disappointment of last season I think we will really go for it this time round – I think we are one of the favourites for the title but I fully expect us to be in the top 5 come April.

6. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

I can’t wait for Whitehawk on the opening day, the feeling of competitive football returning is unmatched! The Dulwich and Canvey games are always fun due to the rivalry between the teams, and personally I’m excited to visit Chichester, Dover & Cray’s new ground for the first time.

7. What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?

Lewes – the most unique ground in the league! It’s a shame last season we ended up going there on a freezing, wet and windy Tuesday night in February.

8. If you regularly travelled away, which ground served the best food?

They aren’t in the division this season, but Margate’s food is brilliant.

9. Who do you think will finish in the top five?

Horsham, Billericay Town, Chatham Town, Dulwich Hamlet, Folkestone Invicta
