Supporters Predictions 24-25: Dover Athletic
Jamie takes us over to Dover
We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-22 will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.
We’ve gone about as far south east as we can go without falling into the sea or having to speak French, as Jamie Skeggs gives us his views on the world of Dover Athletic.
- Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?
In a season of doom, the highlights were the first 2 games of the season, holding then favourites Torquay 2-2 at home after being 2-0 down and then beating Slough 1-2 away from home with a last minute winner.
2. And what was the worst moment?
For me personally it was the 4-3 loss away to then bottom of the league Havant.
3. Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?
John Oyenuga - the most consistent performer in a squad killed of confidence.
4. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 24-25 campaign?
We have some real danger men at this level, experienced heads such as Mitch Walker and Joe Tennent will help us be tough to beat, going forward Archie Hatcher, Soares Jr., Nikaj and Baptiste all will cause a threat.
5. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?
Initially I just hoped we would stabilise, but I can see us being a tough side to beat, therefore think we could make top 10.
6. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?
There's only one answer here, and that's the Folkestone vs Dover game. As I'm only 19, I've never had the pleasure of watching a FIFC V DAFC league game, seen many a friendly but that's not the same.
7. What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?
It would have to be The Dripping Pan, can't wait to go and see us play Lewes there.
8. If you regularly travelled away, which ground served the best food?
St. Albans was incredible in the NLS last year.
9. Who do you think will finish in the top five?
Dartford (P), Dulwich Hamlet (P), Billericay Town, Folkestone Invicta, Chatham Town
