Supporters Predictions 24-25: Ramsgate
Darius Sarrafan takes us to the seaside
We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-22 will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.
We enter Ram World, with Darius as our shepherd!
- Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?
The FA Cup run was an incredible experience from start to finish - from beating Chatham 5-1 away where they hadn’t lost at home in over a year, to the euphoria of beating Totton, then Woking in front of a sellout crowd of 3000, to taking over 20 coaches of fans to Wimbledon for a game live on TV. Those memories will last a lifetime.
2. And what was the worst moment?
Undoubtedly the playoff semi-final loss to Chichester. Having battered them over the course of the game, we were done by a typical playoff sucker punch. I’ve never felt so empty after a game of football before.
3. Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?
A very honourable mention has to go to TJ Jadama, but a club record 53 goals in a season meant it could only be Joe Taylor. Now also our all time record goalscorer, JT’s constant desire and hunger to score goals is just incredible - and we can’t wait to see even more this season all being well.
4. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 24-25 campaign?
Keeping many of our best players from last season was huge for us, and it’ll be a big year for Joe Taylor, TJ Jadama and Tom Hadler. Defensively, we did struggle towards the back end of last season though - and having big Joe Ellul back and playing alongside the imperious Jay Leader will be massive for us.
5. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?
Anyone who knows non league football will be aware that anything can happen at any time! This summer at the club has been a great example of this, but we have come through it stronger with our profile raised even higher. We also have in excess of 350 season ticket holders.
As a result, I think we will be challenging for promotion once more. We’ve put a very competitive looking squad together yet again in a competitive looking league. Off the pitch, our aim continues to be to make local people active by taking children on a journey from involvement in our community projects, to become full time members of local sports clubs. Ramsgate continues to be a community hub that helps so many underprivileged children - and we will be looking to continue to grow in this area too.
6. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?
There are a tonne of local derbies in the league this season, but I’d be lying if I said I was looking forward to any game other than Margate. To beat them would be special.
7. What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?
Chatham Town in my opinion, however you can’t beat the community feel you get at our WW Martin Community Stadium in my opinion.
8. If you regularly travelled away, which ground served the best food?
Burgess Hill Town. Butcher quality burgers and huge portions of chips. What’s not to love?
9. Who do you think will finish in the top five?
Ramsgate, Sittingbourne, Ashford United, Burgess Hill Town, Deal Town
