Supporters Predictions: Cray Valley PM
An inaugural Premier campaign awaits the Millers- and David Jones is your guide
We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-22 will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.
David Jones reviews a magnificent Millers season, and can’t think of a worst moment, the lucky blighter!
- Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?
Too many to mention - holding Charlton to a draw at their place, a spirited performance at Sevenoaks with a last minute winner, a goal of the season at Broadbridge Heath, and lifting the championship trophy at Horndean being just a few.
2. And what was the worst moment?
None really. It was a little disappointing to lose the two goal lead at Ramsgate, but we'd have taken the draw at the start of the day.
3. Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?
Barney Williams, worked hard all year, never put a foot wrong, and even scored that goal of the season. He cleaned up on all the club's player awards.
4. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 24-25 campaign?
I'll be interested to see Andre Coker, Kyrell Lisbie's replacement and a player with Step 3 experience already. Freddie Parker has looked good in pre-season.
5. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?
Our squad is much the same, so it'll be fascinating to see how an exceptional Step 4 side fares in Step 3. I think mid-table might be a fair target.
6. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?
Opening the season with a home game against local rivals and my title favourites Dartford gets things going nicely, and is followed immediately by the Cray derby away. I've already heard it referred to as 'El Craysico'! I'm also looking forward to returning to Lewes, a town I'm very fond of and which I've visited countless times.
7. What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?
I'd probably choose Lewes, a unique ground with real character, but there's a lot I've not yet seen.
8. If you regularly travelled away, which ground served the best food?
Last year, I'd probably say Hythe Town, because the food was good, the staff were very friendly, and they had Bovril too.
9. Who do you think will finish in the top five?
Dartford, Chatham Town, Billericay Town, Lewes, Hastings United
