Two more Rams

Tom Carlse and Jay Leader are new at Ramsgate

Ramsgate have announced the signings of Tom Carlse and Jay Leader.

Defender Tom ended the 22-23 season as a Ram, making eight appearances. He moved to the Kent coast from Lewes, making ten appearances for the Rooks earlier in that campaign, after making thirty nine the season before.

Prior to the Dripping Pan he was with Cray Wanderers, where he spent the best part of three seasons- two sadly pandemic interrupted- and made fifty two appearances, winning Isthmian South East promotion at the end of his first campaign. Prior to his time with the Wands he had an earlier spell with the Nuts and Bolts and played for Greenwich Borough, Thamesmead Town, Corinthian-Casuals and Sittingbourne.

Last season saw him with Ashford United, where he made twenty one appearances and scored two goals.

Jay, of course also a defender, started his career with Dagenham and Redbridge, before becoming a fans favourite at Aveley. He  then moved on to play for Grays Athletic, before leaving the club- paying his release fee out of his own pocket- to join Cray Wanderers at the start of 2016. He became something of a legend at Cray, remaining for more than five years- playing, if our maths are correct (and we ran out of fingers and toes quite early in our calculations) one hundred and seventy eight times, scoring fifteen goals, the first coming against Chipstead in a two-two draw on February 25th 2017, the last in the six-nil win over Merstham in October 2020.

He has also played for East Thurrock United, Barking, and- last season- in the Essex Senior League for Hullbridge Sports.
