Two return to Town

Darius Ghinea and Luke Ige are back in Witham

 

Prior to Saturday's fixture with Grays Athletic, Witham Town announced the return to the club of Darius Ghinea and Luke Ige, 

 

Darius played youth football with Chelmsford City and Academy football at Chelsea. He moved on to play for London Colney and Sawbridgeworth Town, before joining Heybridge Swifts playing thirty five times and scoring eight goals during the 21-22 campaign. He made thirty nine Hullbridge Sports  appearances during 22-23, scoring six goals, went on to play for KF Istogu in Kosova,  and have a first spell in Witham, playing twenty times last season and scoring two goals. 

 

Luke was a big part of Witham Town's positive start to this season, playing eight times and scoring two goals from full back, but has more recently been with Sutton Common Rovers, where he played sixteen times and scored three goals. 

 

He managed  six goals and thirty four appearances for Town last season, following a brief interlude and two appearances for Concord Rangers. 

 

Luke was Managers Player of the Year for his performances for Witham duting the 22-23 season, when he made thirty one appearances. That followed thirty nine appearances during 21-22 and seven during his first spell with the club, 2019-20. 

 

He started his career with Aston Villa, coming through their Academy before signing for Colchester United and playing for their Under 23 squad. He has also spent time with Merstham, playing twice during the finished almost before it started 20-21 campaign.
