Vita Risk Solutions: Manager of the Month Award, April 2024
In conjunction with our friends at Vita Risk, we honour the best Pitching In Isthmian managers of the last month of the season.
Here are our final Vita Risk Solutions Managers of the Month for the 23-24 season.
Premier Division
In the end, the play offs were a slight step too far for Billericay Town, but they could have done little more in the last month of the season, winning every match. Concord Rangers, Haringey Borough, Cheshunt, Carshalton Athletic and Margate took on the Blues, and each one ended the match with nothing at all. The Blues will feel disappointed at missing out on the end of season party by three points, but they should be amongst the favourites to win promotion next season. Congratulations to Gary McCann on picking up our prize.
North Division
Walthamstow finished the season in superb form. April started with victories and clean sheets against Enfield and Stowmarket Town, and next up were Heybridge Swifts, who were demolished five-one. Next on the horizon were promotion chasing Bury Town and Bowers and Pitsea, a rather daunting end to the campaign, but a point was taken from Town and the trip to Bowers, who needed victory to clinch second place, was a marvellous day which saw the East Londoners come from two goals down to win four-two.
Vinny Murphy most certainly deserves our April award, and we suspect there will be many more to come next season.
South Central Division
Westfield will undoubtedly be feeling a little down right now, but let’s see if we can cheer them up a little. The side from Woking Park faced a rather daunting April, with seven league matches scheduled in twenty seven days- but they came through that in remarkable style. First, Met Police and Guernsey were vanquished at home. They then travelled to second place Marlow and defeated them for the third time this season, before heading to Badshot Lea and then Ashford Town, those matches seeing them score six goals without reply. Back on their own patch, Northwood and Corinthian-Casuals were the latest sides to leave with nothing. Seven matches, twenty one points, four clean sheets, seventeen goals scored and three conceded- were not quite sure how April could have gone much better for Ian Selley’s men.
Many congratulations to Ian, and to all at Woking Park.
South East Division
Three Bridges have provided many of the highlights of our Pitching In Isthmian South East season, and although the campaign ended on a low, we’re going to focus on some of the highs. Six league matches were scheduled for April, and some of them looked rather daunting, but Jamie Crellin’s side weren’t at all discouraged- hitting third place Sittingbourne for three and then taking an even bigger scalp, that of Ramsgate- in Ramsgate. Before and after those victories they also defeated Burgess Hill Town, Erith and Belvedere and Sevenoaks Town, and took three points from Hythe Town by hitting them for eight! Six matches, eighteen points, twenty goals scored, seven conceded, memories that will last a lifetime- and, although it doesn’t count towards this award, another win against Sittingbourne in the Play Off Semi-Final.
Many congratulations to Jamie and his side, who deserve such credit for their part in making our season so memorable, and for overcoming the odds time and time again.
