Wands lead the way!

Wands lead the way!

Our Cup replays delivered mixed results for our Premier sides, but Cray Wanderers hit eight!

Emirates FA Cup

Cray Wanderers had been on a poor run prior to their replay with Larkfield & New Hythe at Flamingo Park, but finally they hit form, and in some style. Frankie Raymond put them ahead on three minutes, Nyren Clunis added a second only four minutes later, and with twelve minutes on the clock the match was as good as won, Tom Bonner making it three. Before the first half was half over it was four, Kenny Coker on the scoresheet, and Coker got another to make it five-nil at the break. The second half was slightly less dramatic, but Anthony Cook, Bonner once more and an own goal delivered six, seven and EIGHT.  Wands will host Wingate & Finchley in the next round.

South East Sittingbourne came close to defeating Premier goal machines Dover Athletic at Woodstock Park on Saturday- and if you thought their chance had gone, think again! The Brickies travelled to the Crabble definite underdogs, but just like Saturday they took an early lead, Troy Howard opening the scoring on thirteen minutes. Unlike Saturday, however, they held that lead, taking a famous scalp and making most of the seven hundred and thirty four watching on thoroughly miserable.

Leatherhead came rather close to defeating Premier Division Dulwich Hamlet on Saturday, and they completed the job at Fetcham Grove last night. The match had only one goal, and it arrived four minutes from time, Tom Kavanagh deadly from the spot scoring his first Tanners goal. Leatherhead head to Dartford in the next round.

Lewes hadn’t lost a match all season, and have a one hundred percent record in the League, but they could only draw against Harefield United of Combined Counties Premier North on Saturday. Five hundred and twenty eight headed to the Dripping Pan, most expecting the Rooks to finish the job, but after one hundred and twenty minutes without a goal the hosts were the victims of a giant killing, United triumphing four-two on penalties.
