Your Favourite Isthmian food 24-25
You certainly like a burger- but surprisingly our winners weren’t even an Isthmian club last season!
Football food doesn’t always get the plaudits it deserves, but some of our clubs should be feted for ensuring we’re sated! Every year we ask you about your favourite food, and your response tends to wax lyrical over burgers, chips, pies and sometimes exotica like mashed potato, jerk chicken and even poutine. This season has been no exception, and we were left with a longlist of twenty clubs who you rated particularly highly.
The runners up all tend to get high praise. You adored the fare on offer at Badshot Lea, Lewes, Horsham and Folkestone Invicta, and for a long time it looked as if one of these would take the title, but then a late run of Pitching In Isthmian North votes swayed the outcome.
Our winners-and not for the first time- are those who feed the famished at Chadfields, home of Grays Athletic and, of course, their landlords Tilbury. The Dockers weren’t even with us last season (and it’s lovely to have them back) but they must, of course, take the credit for their brilliant burgers and assorted accompaniments, even if those who visited and ate magnificently were watching their clubs take on Grays!
Many congratulations to the Dockers, and to our runners up. Highly commended are also:
Burgess Hill Town, Sheppey United, Hythe Town, Dulwich Hamlet, Littlehampton Town, Lancing, Potters Bar Town, Southall, East Grinstead Town, Canvey Island and Bognor Regis Town.
