Your Favourite Isthmian Ground 24-25
We’ve been asking our supporters to name their favourite Pitching In Isthmian Ground and, well, there were no alarms and few surprises
As we kicked off the 23-24 campaign and announced your favourite ground, it transpired that Chatham Town had charged up on the rails and taken the plaudits- something which was rather a surprise, as Lewes had taken the title in every previous survey. Well, this time around we’re heading back to the future, as once more the Dripping Pan has been voted your favourite Pitching In Isthmian stadium- for the sixth time in seven years.
The Rooks came in a close second to the Chats this time last year, but there was nothing close about this year’s contest. The Dripping Pan actually ended with with three times the number of votes as its closest challenger- and its closest challenger was not Chatham this time around, but Bury Town’s beautiful Ram Meadow. Chatham Town were one of a host of clubs in joint third, alongside Horsham, Billericay Town, Ramsgate, Heybridge Swifts and Metropolitan Police.
Perhaps one of the reasons for the latest Lewes triumph is the fact that your votes were much more widely dispersed than ever before. As they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and as well as the clubs mentioned above, you found the following clubs aesthetically pleasing:
Cray Valley PM, Canvey Island, Sevenoaks Town, Horndean, Hastings United, Herne Bay, Sheppey United, Bowers and Pitsea, Carshalton Athletic, Bognor Regis Town, Ascot United, Dulwich Hamlet, Wingate & Finchley, Guernsey, Folkestone Invicta and Ipswich Wanderers.
Congratulations to every club who picked up votes, but, as usual, the most congratulations go to the fine folk of lovely Lewes. For an Isthmian, going down the Pan is indeed a positive!
