Your Favourite Isthmian Ground 26-27
We’ve been asking our supporters to name their favourite Pitching In Isthmian Ground and…it feels like we’re repeating exactly the same article every year!
For nine years now we have been asking you to nominate your favourite Pitching In Isthmian ground, and this season we had more nominees than ever before. A record twenty three clubs ended up on our longlist, many of them for the first time. We suspect this confirms what we’ve always known- that across our entire League our clubs go out of their way to make their grounds pleasant, welcoming places to watch football.
Highly commended in this category were: Bedfont Sports, Jersey Bulls, Deal Town, Wroxham, St Albans City, Buckhurst Hill, Folkestone Invicta, Bowers and Pitsea, Dulwich Hamlet, Raynes Park Vale, Canvey Island, Hendon, Felixstowe and Walton United, Walthamstow, Ascot United and Cheshunt. Now, onto the top seven!
In joint fourth place: Ashford United, Bognor Regis Town, Welling United and Dartford
In third place: Faversham Town
Second place: Cambridge City. Watchers of North Division clubs truly love City’s new ground, which really isn’t a surprise. It was a long time coming, but it truly is a magnificent facility, and brings great credit to the hard working, dedicated folks who made it happen- and those who look after visitors every matchday.
First place: Lewes
The Rooks have now won this award eight times out of nine, and really it can be no surprise. The Dripping Pan is a fabulous place to watch football, and it is full of fabulous people, too, which only improves the experience. And the views of the South Downs can distract you on the odd occasion that the football doesn’t live up to expectations!
Congratulations to every club who picked up votes, but, as usual, the most congratulations go to the fine folk of lovely Lewes. For an Isthmian, going down the Pan is always a positive!
