Gulls and Invicta are our victors on Premier Tuesday
Seaside celebrations at Canvey and Folkestone, Billericay win in the cup, whilst Blues and Chats have to settle for a point each
Dulwich Hamlet travelled to Folkestone Invicta hoping to climb back into the top five, but instead they were undone by an Amadou Kassarate double. Whilst seven hundred and sixty two hardy souls endeavoured to keep warm, the home contingent were given another excuse to jump up and down when Kassarate put their side ahead just before half time- although perhaps they should have been ahead much earlier, as they were awarded a spot kick on thirteen minutes only for Jameson Horlick in the Hamlet goal to prove equal to it.
Kassarate was at it again nine minutes into the second half, a pass behind the defence seeing the number six reach the ball before the Hamlet keeper and finish confidently into the corner for his fifth goal of the season. It was very much a deserved lead for the hosts, but Hamlet gave themselves hope nine minutes from time when Luke Wanadio scored another trademark goal, his thirteenth of the season. It turned out not to be all that unlucky for the hosts, however, as they held on to climb into the top ten. Image from Helen Cooper.
Hamlet have taken only one point from their last four away matches.
Canvey Island’s home form this season has been…nothing to write home about, but their form on the road has been much better, and their trip to Hashtag United delivered a fifth away win from six matches- the only defeat coming at leaders Dover Athletic. The Gulls broke the deadlock at Parkside five minutes before half time, Elliott Ronto the scorer, and in first half injury time they doubled their lead, Chris Harris taking his tally for the season up to five. On sixty seven minutes Ronto completed a brace for the second match in a row via a wicked deflection, and a very late goal for the hosts, headed home by Misha Djemaili, was not much of a consolation. Canvey climb to eighth.
Wingate and Finchley climbed up to second place in the table, but they could only take a point against draw specialists Chatham Town. The Blues went ahead on twenty minutes, Ogo Obi taking his tally for the season up to seventeen, but they suffered a setback in first half added time when skipper William Cracknell saw red. We reached the seventy first minute without the Chats being able to take advantage, so on came substitute Rowan Liburd, and within a minute that change had proved to be inspired, as he delivered an equaliser.
The hosts are three points behind the leaders, Town are twelfth- the visitors having lost the same number of matches as their hosts but with eleven points fewer, mainly due to seven draws from their fifteen matches. They are seven unbeaten in the League- but those seven matches brought only two victories.
In the Velocity Cup Fourth Round Billericay Town welcomed Cheshunt, and the Blues rather strolled to a three-nil victory. Bobby Kelman, making his debut, opened the scoring on fifteen minutes, and that was that for the first half, but within three minutes of the restart a fine run and cross from Arjanit Krasniqi found Charlie Panton, who made no mistake- another player scoring his first Billericay goal. That appeared to be that, but in added time a foul on Cain Keller gave Ade Azeez the chance to score from the spot, and it was a chance he took, three-nil the final score.
