A midweek South Central round up- with Westfield our big winners

We had Pitching In Isthmian South Central action on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Here’s what happened.

Our Pitching In Isthmian South Central midweek started on Monday evening, as Binfield welcomed Uxbridge. They also welcomed one hundred and fifty one people to watch, but they didn’t welcome a single goal for either side. They did get to see a red card, however, James Taylor dismissed late on for the visitors, but the Moles had only nine minutes to take advantage and couldn’t find a way through. Both sides picked up their first point of the campaign.

Tuesday

Westfield were our big midweek winners, and they ruined Horndean’s one hundred percent record in the process- and climbed above their visitors into second place. Field opened the scoring at Woking Park on twenty five minutes, Andrew Crossley with their first goal- and within a quarter of an hour had added three more and effectively wrapped up the points, Lui Edwards with his fourth in six matches, Sekou Toure with his third in five and Caleb Wright’s first of the season giving them a four-nil lead at the break. The Deans did pull a goal back twelve minutes from time, Chad Field the scorer, but it was rather too little and rather too late.

Leaders Harrow Borough now have a five point lead at the top and a one hundred percent record after five matches, after defeating Rayners Lane two-nil. The opening goal arrived after seven minutes, an own goal sadly, and Lane never gave up, but the killer blow arrived five minutes from time and at least this time it was a deliberate act, Deago Dunbar-Bonnie sealing victory. Borough have the only one hundred percent record in their Division, and one of only six left in the League. That’s actually Lane’s first defeat of the League season, as their first three matches ended in draws.

Raynes Park Vale had been in impressive form prior to the visit of Sutton Common Rovers, but the travelling side weren’t at all overawed by that and came away with all of the points. The match looked like it might be heading towards a goalless draw when Rovers finally made the breakthrough eighteen minutes from time, Charlie Stallard with the goal, but with the points seemingly won the hosts equalised in added time, Jordan Gallagher with his sixth goal of the season. If the home fans were relieved at the equaliser they were soon to be horrified, as with five added minutes already played Rovers got a winner, substitute Francis Sey the matchwinner. Vale are fourth, Rovers climb to seventh- behind their hosts only on goal difference.

Hayes and Yeading United had a one hundred percent record as they welcomed Hanworth Villa- albeit they’d only played twice-  but that departed along with three points. The Villains took the lead just after the half hour, Finlay Macnab scoring for the fourth match in a row- his fifth goal of the season- and added another ten minutes into the second half, Kyen Nicholas with his fifth in five. With nineteen minutes remaining Jude Mason halved the arrears, but that was as good as it got for the home faithful. Villa go fifth.

Southall are still searching for their first League win of the season, but Met Police are up to eighth after coming from behind to win at Imber Court. Sidney Gbla was the Blue hero, scoring on sixty one and sixty six minutes to cancel out and then surpass the opener for The All, which went to Mayowa Adaje in first half added time. Gbla takes his total for the season to four.

Badshot Lea picked up their first point of the season in a draw with South Park Reigate, but neither side managed a goal. The Sparks have now drawn three out of three, scored three goals, conceded three, and have three points. Sadly they aren’t third, however, they sit in fourteenth.

Wednesday

Wednesday brought us a green on green battle, as Guernsey welcomed Leatherhead- both sides looking for a first League win of the campaign. Sadly for most of the four hundred and sixty two watching on, that first win went to the travelling Tanners, and it ended up rather comfortable. Seb Karczewski got his fourth of the campaign in opening the scoring on the half hour, and Andre Date also joined him on four when adding the second ten minutes later. It was three-nil right at the end, Kwesi Ntim, on from the bench only eight minutes earlier, sealing victory.
