Double Dockers as Hughes and Hernandez star in victory

David Hughes and Alex Hernandez make Tilbury debuts

Tilbury gave a debut to David Hughes and Alex Hernandez in victory over Waltham Abbey on Saturday.

Goalkeeper David is a serial promotion winner from Pitching In Isthmian North- and joins the Dockers on loan from Bowers and Pitsea as he rebuilds his fitness after some time out. He made forty five appearances last season as his side won promotion via the Play Offs, moving to the Len Salmon from AFC Sudbury, where he played thirty four times- with fifteen clean sheets- as his side clinched promotion… via the Play Offs.

David, of course, already knew what it felt to win North Division promotion, as he was between the sticks when Aveley triumphed the season before- when he kept eighteen clean sheets. He was also an enormous part of the Millers run to the Quarter Finals of the FA Trophy during the pandemic hit 2019-20 campaign, and had been a critical part of their squad for five seasons before his departure. He was previously with Harlow Town, Thurrock and Enfield Town.

Alex Hernandez comes in from Aveley on a dual registration deal- and scored on his Dockers debut. Alex previously spent time with Concord Rangers when in National League South, and also had spells at East Thurrock United and Great Wakering Rovers. He moved from the Beachboys to Parkside at the start of last season, and played thirty two times as the Millers took Step Two by storm, scoring six goals before an injury got in the way. He signed a new deal with the club in the summer.
