Farnham and the K’s battle for top spot- whilst behind them the play off battle is far warmer than the weather!

One point between the top two, three between third and ninth- there’s a lot to play for on our South Central Saturday

Our leading duo are on the road, Farnham Town travelling to Met Police and Kingstonian heading to Binfield.

Farnham, with only one defeat all season, are looking for a fifth consecutive victory as they travel to Imber Court, but were made to fight for their win over the Boys in Blue in September, squeezing home two-one. Met have been in a bit of a malaise, but climbed out of the bottom four with victory at Southall on Wednesday and will hope to build on that.

Kingstonian are searching for a ninth successive win as they travel to Binfield. The K’s have been quite magnificent of late, have gone six games without conceding a goal, and of course will take confidence from having defeated the Moles seven-one in September. Binfield improved to win five in a row after that K’s hammering, but have slipped back lately and are looking to avoid a fifth successive defeat.

Third place Raynes Park Vale were perhaps unlucky to lose at Farnham last week, and will want to get back to winning ways as they host Ascot United- but they may not have it all their own way, as the Yellas, only two points behind, have their own sights set on third place. United are looking for a fourth win in a row, and will also have revenge on their minds. When the sides last met they were two-nil up after fourteen minutes, only to lose three-two.

Hartley Wintney ended a four match losing run by defeating South Park Reigate last weekend, and will hope to continue that run- and perhaps climb to third- as Southall come to call. The All had won four in a row until they met Met Police on Wednesday night, falling to a two-one defeat, and will hope for a quick return to form. The sides drew one-one in September.

Hanworth Villa are looking for a third win in a row as they travel to Portsmouth to take on Moneyfields, but their hosts will be confident, not only because they are also looking for a third win in succession but because they defeated a Portsmouth FC side three-nil in a local cup game in midweek. The hosts have climbed to open up a four point gap between themselves and the bottom four, and will hope to continue to look upwards.

Uxbridge are on the road to Cobham to take on Ashford Town. Our sixth place side have lost only one of their last ten league fixtures, whilst the hosting Tangerines have gone eight without a win and find themselves six points from safety, certainly not helped by the fact that they have played the entire season away from home whilst their own ground has a 3G pitch installed. The two sides will be rather sick of the sight of each other, as they’ve already met three times, Town knocking their opponents out of the FA Cup after a replay, Uxbridge triumphing two-one in the league in September.

Harrow Borough have hit a rather large bump in the road, and host Sutton Common Rovers having lost their last five league matches- which is why they have slipped to eighth. Rovers are down in seventeenth, two points above the drop zone, and got their first win in nine when defeating bottom side Badshot Lea last time out. The sides drew one-one in September.

Westfield welcome South Park Reigate to Woking Park. The hosts have seen their last seven matches go in a W-L pattern, and will hope to end that as the next one in the sequence is a L! The Sparks, however, have bigger problems,  as they’ve slipped into the bottom four, mainly due to the fact that they haven’t managed an away win all season. This will be their eighth attempt to break that duck. The first meeting between the sides this season ended one-one.

Hayes and Yeading United, in tenth place, are only two points away from the top five, which perhaps demonstrates just how tight the play off race is at present. United are at home to Leatherhead, the Tanners down in sixteenth and closer to the drop zone than the top five, something which we really didn’t expect. United were five unbeaten until defeat against Ascot last time out, and indeed have lost only two of their last ten; whilst Leatherhead have only three wins from ten and indeed have gone four matches without one. An eighty ninth minute goal gave United victory at Fetcham Grove in September.

Guernsey, six points from safety in twentieth place, are back on their island, where they welcome Horndean. The Deans have returned to form of late, winning three of their last four, but they did lose three-two against the Green Lions at the end of September. Guernsey have won only two of their last ten- and indeed only two all season.

Finally, bottom side Badshot Lea welcome Rayners Lane. The Baggies are still without a win and are twelve points from safety, whilst Lane seem to have found their Isthmian feet and are only four points away from the top five after winning four of their last five. The Baggies came from two down to grab a point at lane in September.
