Farnham held- K’s reduce the deficit at the top
Kingstonian close to within four points of Farnham, Moneyfields somehow win a seven goal thriller, Uxbridge go third, Met shock Hayes, whilst Guernsey, Tanners and Harrow also win
Leaders Farnham Town were back on their own patch, and faced what looked like the tough challenge of fourth place Ascot United- and it certainly turned out to be tough. Town went ahead just before half time, Owen Dean’s twentieth goal of the season giving them the lead, but the Yellas didn’t give up and with sixteen minutes to go were awarded a spot kick, Anas Igozouln keeping his nerve and earning his side a point. That’s a thirteenth goal of the campaign for the Ascot number eleven, and they enter the festive period in fourth, whilst Farnham are four points clear of the top having played a game more than second place Kingstonian. Kingstonian travel to take on a Hanworth Villa side who were smarting from last weekend’s hammering at Southall. The Villains had won five in a row prior to that, whilst the K’s had lost only one of ten- and that became one of eleven and three more points, but they had to wait until late to clinch victory. Brad Wilson put the K’s ahead on ten minutes only for Sam Merson to quickly level, but the match hinged on a red card for Villa’s Ben Mulley just after the hour. Within fifteen minutes the K’s man advantage had turned into a goal advantage, Wilson making it two-one, and Eddie Simon’s twenty third goal of the season put a gloss on victory seven minutes from time. The K’s are four points away from top spot, with a game in hand, Villa are sixth.
Uxbridge, after their eight-nil triumph last weekend, travelled to face Rayners Lane, their hosts four without a win but generally very good indeed on their own patch. They weren’t quite so good on this occasion, however, as the visitors climbed to third with a two-one win.Lane went ahead in first half added time, Dernell Wynter the scorer, but Uxbridge levelled from the spot eleven minutes into the second half- Joshua Addae keeping his cool- and scored the winner eight minutes from time, George Moore continuing his fine form in front of goal with a seventeenth goal of the season.
Hayes and Yeading United headed to Met Police, and were firm favourites to take three points- but the Boys in Blue had other ideas, winning at Imber Court for only the second time this season and doing it in some style. Louis Degand gave them the lead just before the half hour, and after the hosts keeper Liam Beech saved a penalty Mason Galloway made it two just before the break. Jonathan Hippolyte gave the visitors hope by pulling a goal back early in the second half, but that just spurred on their hosts, and Galloway added a third on the hour before Degand got the fourth eighteen minutes from time. With two minutes left substitute Fabio Szepan-Afelepulled it back to four-two, but that was as good as it got for the visitors. Met are now only a point from safety- with three games in hand over the side just above them- whilst United slip to eighth, three points away from the top five.
Harrow Borough have seen a poor run undermine their promotion chances- but with only four points between themselves and a play off place at kick off had plenty of time to put that right, and they made a start, closing that gap to two points. Borough welcomed Westfield, and it looked like the sides had delivered a goalless draw, but two minutes into added time at the end Stephan Langley popped up with a home winner. Borough are seventh, Westfield eleventh.
Leatherhead, down in fourteenth spot at kick off, were at home to the bottom place Baggies, Badshot Lea. The Tanners were boosted by their shootout Cup win at Premier Division Carshalton in midweek, and they picked up another victory, but they were made to work for it. Cerny Ando put them ahead on the half hour, and Deondre Date made it two four minutes before half time, but the visitors got a goal back before trooping off for a half time orange slice, Finlay Evans with it. Four minutes into the second half Niran Butler made it three-one, only for David Garlinge to quickly pull it back to three-two, but that was where the scoring stopped. Leatherhead climb to twelfth, eleven points away from the top five, whilst the Baggies remain eleven points from safety.
Moneyfields hosted the side two places and one point behind them at kick off, Sutton Common Rovers. The Moneys had only two defeats from seven on their own patch, and that run became two from eight, but how they took three points will be something of a mystery to their visitors. Rovers went ahead twelve minutes before half time, Ezra Agyiri the scorer, and with nineten minutes to go they were still ahead, but not for much longer. Tom Jeffes levelled for the hosts, and three minutes later James Franklyn put the Moneys ahead, only for Christian Adugyamfi to quickly level for the visitors. With ten minutes to go Rovers were ahead once more, Denniel Pepple the scorer, and with a minute to go the visitors had three points seemingly wrapped up, but left with none. First, a penalty, Scott Hills making it three-three, and then a minute into added time the hosts got a winner, Isaac Kamin sparking celebration and leaving the visitors a point above the bottom four having played three matches more than fourth bottom Met Police.
Guernsey started the day nine points from safety, and ended it with that margin cut to six, following a comfortable win over South Park Reigate. The Sparks have struggled on the road, and they fared no better despite using a plane, three goals in the first nineteen minutes giving the points to the Green Lions. Sam Murray scored after two and seven minutes, Matt Loaring made it three, and a red card for the visitors Danny Dudley three minutes from time left the Sparks with mission impossible, despite a Guernsey penalty miss. The visitors are two points above the drop zone.
Playing on Friday, Ashford Town closed to within six points of safety and ended an eleven match winless run with a comfortable win over Binfield. The Tangerines ended the first half three goals to the good, Jack Arnold with the first two and Basim Mirtahmesebi with the third, and although Rahzir Smith-Jones was able to get a goal back for the visitors nine minutes into the second half, that was where the scoring ended- and the Moles ended the match with ten men, Jamie Hilton picking up a late red card.
