The Bees go back to the summit
With leaders Bury Town having an enforced day off, second place Basildon United knew that they could return to the top if they could defeat Mildenhall Town. The Bees hadn’t played for eleven days, their defeat against Ipswich Wanderers on September 17th their last action, and hoped to quickly put that behind them- and they started like a rocket, going ahead after just two minutes, Ruben Bartlett-Antwi the scorer. Five minutes before half time the same player made it two, this one from the spot, and it was three-nil just before the hour, Darren Esuka with that one. The visitors did get a consolation, Adam Capel scoring eight minutes from time, but the Bees took the summit on goal difference.
