Uhlsport Golden Gloves Awards- September 2024
Here are the winners of our latest Golden Gloves Awards - sponsored by the some of the best goalkeeping equipment in the world, provided by uhlsport
Remember, these awards are given on the basis of league matches only- and clubs must have played at least three of those to qualify!
Premier Division
Billericay Town are the only unbeaten side in Pitching In Isthmian Premier- and that is, to a great extent, success built on their superb defence, marshalled by keeper Sam Donkin. The entire season so far has seen the Blues concede only five league goals- by far the best in the Division- and September saw them concede only one, with two clean sheets as they walloped Folkestone Invicta and Bognor Regis Town. Congratulations to Sam, and to those who stand so resolutely in front of him.
North Division
Grays Athletic might be sat firmly in mid table in Pitching In Isthmian North, but on goals conceded they have the joint best defence in the Division, and as such they win our award for September. League results for the month include two clean sheets- against Concord Rangers and Heybridge Swifts- with only Wroxham’s Ryan Miles slightly spoiling their month in a one-one draw on Saturday. Daniel Sambridge and his mean defence deserve our plaudits, and now Dan will have a fabulous new pair of gloves to help him earn some more.
South Central Division
Farnham Town have been magnificent going forward, scoring twenty seven goals in seven league matches- seventeen of those in September- and perhaps that’s distracted us from just how good they’ve been at the other end, too. Those seven league matches have seen them concede only three goals- far and away the best in the Division- and five league matches in September saw them concede only two and keep three clean sheets. Patrick Nash has been the force behind that parsimonious back line, and he has some wonderful new gloves heading his way. Congrats go to Patrick, and to those who clear it when he tells them to, and leave it when instructed!
South East Division
Our three of our clubs still hold a one hundred percent record as we move into October, and two of them are in our South East Division. Sheppey United have played six matches, won them all, and only conceded three goals- and September saw them play three times, win three times (of course) and concede only one goal. Perhaps we should give Erith Town’s Ollie Milton a round of applause for being the only man to get the better of Ites keeper Aiden Prall during the month (it isn’t like the Dockers got any points, after all), but instead we’re going to send Aiden a fine set of new gloves and our congratulations.
