A South East Boxing Day
Our fixtures are neatly split between 1PM and 3PM, with our leading South East duo both starting work early. Here’s our preview
1PM
Sittingbourne find themselves top of the table for the first time since the opening day, courtesy of winning their twelfth match in a row on Saturday- and the Brickies are back at Fortress Woodstock on Boxing Day, having won each of their eleven home fixtures so far. Sheppey United make the rather short trip, the Ites outside the top five only on goal difference but in mixed form, having lost their last two.
Ramsgate find themselves down to second place- but they are only a point behind the leaders and have a game in hand. The Rams make the short trip to Margate, both sides having lost only once this season, the Rams with nine wins from ten and Gate with an eleven match unbeaten run to protect and determined to make up ground on their local rivals.
Eastbourne Town welcome East Grinstead Town, the Wasps travelling down the A22 with a three match unbeaten run to protect. The hosts have lost four of their last five, and are one point ahead of their visitors in the table, thirteenth v fourteenth.
Hythe Town have slipped to twentieth, two points from safety, after a run of two wins from ten. The Cannons welcome an Ashford United side who were in fine form prior to their surprising loss against Phoenix Sports on Saturday, and who will hope to make up some of the six points separating them from the top five.
Bottom side Steyning Town Community, without a win since September 28th and on a run of sixteen matches that have brought only two points, are the hosts of a local derby with Lancing. The Lancers are two points from safety- and six ahead of their hosts- after looking much improved of late, only one defeat from their last four.
3PM
Croydon Athletic have lost their way a little, the Rams, in fifteenth, having gone seven games without a win. They welcome Phoenix Sports, who are second bottom and five points from safety but boosted by their comfortable win at Ashford United on Saturday.
Deal Town are only three points away from the top five and will hope to narrow that gap and make it four wins in a row as they welcome Herne Bay. The visitors have lost four in a row and find themselves down in sixteenth, after a run of two wins- and seven defeats- from their last ten matches.
Broadbridge Heath head to the seaside, and Littlehampton Town. The travelling Bears are five unbeaten- and indeed have won four of those, whilst the Golds have taken only one point from their last seven matches and find themselves only two points above the drop zone.
Sevenoaks Town are back on their own patch, Merstham the visitors. Oaks have been in mixed form, two wins and three defeats from their last five, whilst the Moatsiders saw a three match winning run come to an end against Sittingbourne on December 14th, and have had to wait to get back into action.
Finally, Three Bridges are back at Three Bridges after spending the season so far ground sharing many miles away at Chatham Town. Bridges are four points above the bottom four but have many games in hand over the sides around them, but they have a baptism of fire as they welcome fifth place Burgess Hill Town to Jubilee Field. Hill have only one defeat from ten, Bridges have won three of their last four and are beginning to once more resemble last season’s surprise packages, and this should be a cracker.
