Can the Rams- and the Brickies- narrow the gap at the top, or can Becks make it bigger?

We’ve four matches in Pitching In Isthmian South East this evening- and three sides in Velocity Cup action. Here’s our preview

Leaders Beckenham Town have opened up a seven point lead at the top of Pitching In Isthmian South East, and although we must point out that they’ve played five more matches than their closest challengers have been in fine form nonetheless. Becks are looking for a fourth successive win as they head to Ashford United, whilst their hosts are in their best form of the season. That a three match winning run didn’t stretch to four on Saturday was rather hard on the Nuts and Bolts, who were two goals to the good against Premier Division high flyers Lewes with ten minutes to go, only to concede an added time equaliser and then lose on penalties, but they played well, and will be looking for a fourth successive league win, a result which could lift them as high as eleventh.

Ramsgate saw their one hundred percent start to the season turn into a 92.593% start to the season as they were held by Burgess Hill Town on Saturday, but they welcome Sevenoaks Town to the seaside this evening hoping to lift that percentage back to a slightly more impressive 93.333!

The Rams have been rather superb, with- as usual- striker Joe Taylor in top form, eighteen goals already this season, but they meet an Oaks side who knocked them out of the Velocity Cup at Southwood in mid September and who will be full of confidence after defeating Steyning Town three-nil at the weekend.

Fifth place Sittingbourne will be full of beans after defeating league leaders Dover Athletic away from home for the second time this season, adding an FA Trophy giant killing to their earlier FA Cup shock. The Brickies welcome Steyning Town, and could go as high as second with victory- and as they are nine points behind the leaders with four games in hand will consider themselves well placed in the title race. A win will make it four in a row, avoiding defeat will take their unbeaten run up to nine.

Steyning find themselves in twentieth place having lost their last seven matches in all competitions.

Littlehampton Town can climb out of the bottom four with just a point against Deal Town, but we’re sure that the Golds would rather have all three- and they were on a three match undefeated run before losing at Sheppey United at the weekend. Deal are in ninth place, and have been inconsistent of late. Their four-one defeat in Beckenham on Saturday was their third in a row on their travels.

Into the Velocity Cup, and Erith Town will hope for a giant killing to come their way as they welcome Dartford, particularly as the Darts are six without a win in all competitions and have lost five of those. The Dockers have only one defeat from five.

Burgess Hill Town welcome Broadbridge Heath for a Sussex derby. Hill are six unbeaten, whilst the Bears have lost their last three. Kick off is at 7.30 PM.
