Four goal Ites and Rams the stars on Monday

Four goal Ites and Rams the stars on Monday

Sheppey and Ramsgate get four, Brickies, Merstham and Hill get three, and Erith are also victorious

Four matches- three of them away from home- have brought four wins for Sheppey United, and their latest victory came at Hythe Town, where the Ites hit four to go top of the table. They went ahead on twenty one minutes, Gil Carvalho the scorer, and ten minutes before the break Daniel Carr doubled their advantage. Carr ended the Cannons resistance with a third fifteen minutes from time, and still they weren’t finished, adding the fourth with a minute remaining through Eitel Moumi Goueth.

Ramsgate’s Joe Taylor had already delivered five goals in three matches prior to Saturday’s trip to Deal Town, and he picked up yet another match ball (what do you think he does with them all? Is there a JT9 football suppliers somewhere in Kent?) as the Rams came from behind to win. Town went ahead midway through the first half, Ben Chapman with the opener, but Taylor levelled from the spot in added time and six minutes after the restart Tijan Jadama’s third of the season saw the Rams ahead for the first time. Town, cheered on by a large proportion of the one thousand, nine hundred and eighty five watching on, then levelled through Tom Chapman- but that just roused Taylor once more. On seventy minutes he restored the visitors lead, and then two minutes into added time he claimed that hat trick.

Beckenham Town fell from the top, but retained their unbeaten record in a draw at AFC Croydon Athletic. It looked as if they’d taken all three points, Jack Holland’s effort on sixty nine minutes the only goal of the game as we headed towards full time, but six minutes into added time Mekhi Savage earned a point for the hosts. Becks drop to third, Athletic are sixteenth.

Sittingbourne bounced back from defeat against Ramsgate to win a local derby against Ashford United- but they had to come from behind to do it. Louis Collins opened the scoring for the Nuts and Bolts on nineteen minutes, and it was a lead they held until just after the hour mark, Troy Howard with the equaliser. Mitchell May then scored for the fourth match in a row- his sixth goal- of the season- to put the Brickies ahead, and four minutes from time they made sure of the points, Jay Beckford adding a third. The Brickies are fourth, United still looking for a first league win.

Merstham are up to sixth following a comfortable win against Three Bridges at Chatham Town. Bridges have Reece Hallard in fine form, and he scored his fourth goal of the season to give them the lead after just ten minutes, but the Moatsiders took only three minutes to reply, Sam King with the equaliser- and after the break they took control, Charlie Greenwood on forty seven minutes and Korrey Henry ten minutes later sealing victory. Bridges are still without a league win.

Sevenoaks Town took a two-nil lead against East Grinstead Town, but ended the match with only a point. Warren Mfula opened the scoring for Oaks on the half hour, and when Rodney Eruotor added a second just before the hour that looked to be that, but the Wasps found their sting and goals from Charlie Harris (70) and Matt Daniel (76) saw them take a point. The Wasps are seventh, the Oaks tenth.

A goal in each half saw Erith Town go eighth after victory over local rivals Phoenix Sports. Harry Taylor opened the scoring in the thirty third minute, and exactly half an hour later Ollie Milton made it two and sealed the points. Both players now have three goals for the season.

Burgess Hill Town picked up their first League win of the campaign (they have only played twice) at Eastbourne Town, winning their Sussex derby comfortably. Dan Perry got the opener on thirteen minutes, and when Dan Hull was sent off for the hosts twenty minutes later their uphill struggle became as steep as the walk to nearby Beachy Head. Hitman Perry added a second just before the hour, and five minutes from time the visitors rounded off victory with a goal from Alex Brewer to go eleventh.

Margate and Herne Bay enticed seven hundred and eighty seven to Hartsdown Park, but neither side could entertain them with a goal. Gate have now drawn three matches in a row.
