Sports boss departs
Phoenix Sports announce the departure of boss McMahon
Phoenix Sports, bottom of Pitching In Isthmian South East, have announced the departure of manager Keith McMahon.
In a club statement, they explain:
'Keith McMahon has agreed to step down as the First-Team Manager of Phoenix Sports.
The decision was made after lengthy discussions with a new board member, who is set to join the club this week.
The changes at board level will secure an exciting future for Phoenix, with improvements planned both on and off the pitch. Although the new board member acknowledges the hard work Keith has put into the season so far, a new management team was part of his long-term plan for the club.'
Keith joined the club in May, replacing Steve O'Boyle, after spending some time at Mayplace working with O'Boyle last season.
Keith previously spent five years- from May 2015 to June 2020- in charge a few hundred yards away at VCD Athletic. Prior to his time at Oakwood he managed Thamesmead Town, and indeed was a big part of the club for eleven years, steering them to promotion from the Kent League and then to another promotion to our Premier Division, his side winning a famous penalty shootout over Maldon & Tiptree in the 2012-13 North Division Playoff Final. After leaving Vickers he spent time in charge of Whitstable Town.
